On opposite aesthetics in a single culture.
Two faces of Japanese appearance,
one: Miyabi and the other: Laiso. They coexist and contrast in parallel.
Miyabi endorses a brutalist outlook; big blocks of natural colour and simple shapes. Laiso promotes breathtaking decoration, full of small details and rich colour palettes.
I wanted to explore the meeting-point between these two aesthetics and where they strengthen one-another.
